FULAFIA VC Abdul Rahman accepts BIHAIF ambassadorial position

 

A Non-Governmental organisation (NGO), Bright Impact for Humanity and Indigents Foundation (BIHAIF), has made the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, its Ambassador.

According to the foundation, the award was bestowed on Abdul Rahman in recognition of his outstanding performance, commitment and contributions to humanity in Nigeria.

The letter of ambassadorial appointment of Abdul Rahman was presented to him by the BIHAIF President, Comrade (Mrs.) Bahijja Tanko Kasim, alongside other executive members of the foundation who paid a familiarisation visit to FULafia, recently.

Describing Abdul Rahman as the champion of community service, Comrade Bahijja said that they have closely studied the contributions of Abdul Rahman, especially in the area of community service, before his appointment was made by the board of the NGO.

She told the vice-chancellor that his "exemplary leadership commitment to education and unwavering dedication to community service have inspired many within the University, adding that BIHAIF believed that the vice-chancellor's involvement in BIHAIF activities would help the  foundation to achieve its goals.

The BIHAIF president said: "BIHAIF is a non-governmental organisation aimed at providing services to humanity, irrespective of tribe, religion and social differences. The BIHAIF provides support to vulnerable widows, disables, supply medication and blood to hospitals in remote areas, provides boreholes, donates relief  supplies to people affected by conflicts and natural disaster, psychological counseling and promotes peaceful coexistence."

While accepting his appointment, Abdul Rahman appreciated the BIHAIF board for finding him worthy of the appointment.

He expressed his willingness to help the foundation to achieve its mandate of providing community services.

The vice-chancellor urged them to collaborate with the FULafia Centre for Disabilities and Gender Studies to compliment their efforts.

He advised them to always have a good work plan and records of their activities in addressing certain issues they confronted for effective service delivery.

Those who accompanied the BIHAIF president on the visit were Comrade Musa Dahiru, Chairman, Kasim Tabla, Programme Manager, Rukaiyya Muhammed, Technical Officer, Media, and Mohammed Ibrahim, Coordinator.
