FULOKOJA Governing Council Visits Maigari of Lokoja for Royal Blessing
The Governing Council of Federal University Lokoja visited the Maigari of Lokoja, seeking his royal blessings ahead of their inaugural meeting.
During the early hours of Tuesday, the Governing Council and members of the Management of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) paid a courtesy visit to the Maigari of Lokoja, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV. The delegation, led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, sought the royal father’s blessings as they commenced their inaugural meeting.
Senator Ndoma-Egba, the 4th Council Chairman, conveyed the purpose of the visit, informing the Maigari that the Council had come to notify him of their arrival at the University and to seek his support as they begin their official duties. The recent appointment of the Council members by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, marks a new chapter in the University's leadership.
During the visit, the former Senate Majority Leader and ex-Board Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) expressed his admiration for the strong relationship between the Maigari and the University's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi. Senator Ndoma-Egba praised the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership and the efforts of his management team in transforming the University, acknowledging the dedication of staff and students despite the challenges faced during the institution's relocation to its permanent site.
Addressing the unresolved issue of land title documents and compensation for the host community, the Maigari assured the Council of his commitment to resolving these matters. He noted that discussions with the Governor had been initiated and promised his unwavering support to the University's leadership.
The visit highlighted the importance of collaboration between the University and the Lokoja community, with both parties committed to fostering growth and development in the region.
