Professor Olayemi Akinwumi advises the newly elected Students' Union leaders of Federal University Lokoja to focus on security awareness and uphold the University's image.
Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, has congratulated the newly elected Students' Union executive led by Comrade Benjamin Anthony on their recent victory.
On Thursday, Professor Akinwumi met with the new student leaders, who were accompanied by the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Musa Yusufu Abdullahi, for a familiarization visit. The meeting aimed to formally introduce the new executives to the University Management ahead of their official inauguration.
Professor Akinwumi extended his congratulations to the new leaders and urged them to be innovative and positively project the University's image. He emphasized the importance of good behavior and adherence to university regulations, warning that any actions disrupting academic activities or peace would not be tolerated.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the student body of the Management’s non-interference in their activities but stressed the need for cooperation with relevant authorities. He also advised them to report any instances of sexual harassment and to avoid being used by lecturers for such purposes.
In light of recent security concerns, including the tragic murder of a female student, Professor Akinwumi urged the new leaders to be vigilant and promote security awareness among students. He advised against late-night outings and other risky behaviors that could expose them to security threats.
