FUNATO Collaborates with UI’s CSLS to Boost Precision Agriculture and Climate Resilience

Announcing the collaboration during a visit to CSLS, FUNATO Vice-Chancellor Professor Jacob Babayemi, accompanied by visiting scientist Professor Sifau Adenike Adejumo, highlighted that the partnership aligns with FUNATO’s commitment to integrating global best practices in science-driven agriculture and technological innovation.
CSLS, a specialized centre operating under the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), is renowned for applying satellite and space-derived data to address challenges in agriculture, environmental management, and human development.
Professor Babayemi emphasized that the collaboration will provide FUNATO staff and students access to cutting-edge scientific tools, global research networks, and capacity-building programs, while promoting precision farming, climate-smart agriculture, and sustainable resource management.
The partnership will also support interdisciplinary research, joint projects, specialized training, and knowledge exchange initiatives, further strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural resilience and scientific capacity.
This initiative underscores FUNATO’s commitment to national development, food security, and Africa’s sustainable growth through innovation and strategic academic partnerships.
