FUOYE Dazzlers kicked off the 2024 third season of the Ekiti State Football Association League (ESFAL) in a spectacular fashion, securing a thrilling victory against Harmony FC of Ado Ekiti. The match, held at the Afe Babalola University Sports complex in Ado Ekiti, saw FUOYE Dazzlers dominate the game with impressive gameplay and strategic moves. Despite a fierce challenge from the visiting team, FUOYE Dazzlers managed to maintain their lead and secure a 2-1 victory.
The Ekiti State Football Association League is an annual competition aimed at promoting grassroots football development and nurturing talent within the state. This year's season witnessed a significant expansion, with 36 teams participating in the tournament, compared to 20 teams in the previous year. FUOYE Dazzlers' victory marks a promising start to their campaign in the league, as they aim to clinch the coveted top prize.
Comrade Aare Oluwole Oloworemo, Chairman of the Ekiti State Football Association, expressed his delight at the turnout of spectators and the level of enthusiasm for the competition. He emphasized the importance of developing grassroots football and identifying talented players who could potentially advance to higher leagues.
Mr. Christopher Obajaja, Director of Sports at FUOYE, commended the team's performance but urged them to remain focused and continue improving throughout the tournament. Head Coach Blessing Ayodeji Ojo echoed this sentiment, highlighting the significance of the first match as an opportunity to assess the team's strengths and weaknesses.
Despite their loss, Harmony FC Coach Olamide Idiola remained optimistic about his team's prospects in the league and vowed to bounce back stronger in the upcoming matches. FUOYE Dazzlers, along with Harmony FC and other teams in Group C, are set to face each other in a series of home and away fixtures as they compete for glory in the ESFAL.
