FULafia Business Administration Department Empowers Secondary School Students with Entrepreneurial Skills
The Business Administration Department of FULafia trained secondary school students in entrepreneurship and job creation, equipping them with skills for self-reliance and economic contribution.
The Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), has initiated a comprehensive training programme to empower graduating students of Government Science School, Lafia, and Government Secondary School, Bukan-Sidi, Lafia, with essential entrepreneurial skills.
Themed "Job Creation Opportunities for Secondary School Leavers in Nigeria and Small-Scale Business Management," the initiative featured lectures by Dr Abdullahi Dauda, Head of Department; Dr Ogbu James Ogbu; Dr Musa Yakubu; and Mrs Hanatu Umar.
Dr Abdullahi Dauda stated, "This initiative demonstrates the Federal University of Lafia's commitment to empowering secondary school leavers and fostering entrepreneurship in Nigeria."
Dr Ogbu James Ogbu, the guest speaker, highlighted job creation opportunities in agriculture, vocational skills, ICT, and creative industries. He also provided practical business management tips, emphasizing planning, financial management, and overcoming challenges such as access to funds and government regulations.
The school management and students commended the programme and requested its extension to include teacher training, citing its relevance in addressing the current economic climate.
