Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inaugurated the Paediatric Sickle Cell Centre at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), a significant development aimed at addressing the health needs of children with sickle cell disease.

The state-of-the-art facility was commissioned on Friday, facilitated by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the centre's potential to transform healthcare delivery in Lagos State.
During the commissioning ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership in the health sector and for approving such a crucial project in Lagos and other parts of the country. He emphasized that the new centre would significantly enhance healthcare infrastructure for children in the state, creating an environment conducive to comprehensive care.

"The establishment of this centre marks a substantial step forward in our efforts to improve infant and maternal health outcomes in Lagos State," Governor Sanwo-Olu stated. He also stressed the importance of collaboration among the three tiers of government to maximize the benefits of such healthcare initiatives, commending the synergy among LASUTH officials.
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged LASUTH management to ensure the centre is used effectively to save the lives of children with sickle cell disease and serve the greater good of the community.
