IAUE 13th Pro-Chancellor Praises VC for Steady Leadership Amid Transition
The 13th Pro-Chancellor and Governing Council Chairman of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Rt. Hon. Chinyere E. Igwe, commended the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku, and his management team for their effective stewardship during a period of significant transition and demand.

Speaking at a joint meeting of the Governing Council and Senate on Monday, 16 February 2026, at the Postgraduate Hall, Rt. Hon. Igwe highlighted the university’s notable achievements, which reflect teamwork, resilience, and high productivity among staff and students. Key accomplishments include:
- Strengthening and reviewing academic programmes and curricula to align with national priorities and global best practices.
- Launching new programmes and securing accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and relevant professional bodies.
- Enhancing student success and improving service delivery, infrastructure, and digitalisation.
- Expanding lecture spaces, ICT capacity, and facilities across campuses.
- Promoting community engagement, collaboration, and outreach with internal and external stakeholders, reinforcing IAUE’s role as an agent of development.
Rt. Hon. Igwe noted that these achievements are the product of collective effort, dedication, and visionary leadership. He also urged continued attention to persistent and emerging challenges, including financial pressures, constrained public funding, and rising operational costs that affect service delivery.
He emphasized that sustaining high academic standards and programme quality requires continuous investment in staff development. The Pro-Chancellor lauded the contributions of faculties, administrative staff, students, alumni, and partners in realizing IAUE’s progress and called for continued collaboration to shape a robust future for the university.
