The Faculty of Communications and Media Studies, Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), in collaboration with RUDN University and the Centre for Continuing Professional Education, has successfully hosted a two-day professional short course on ethical artificial intelligence and entrepreneurial journalism.

The Faculty of Communications and Media Studies, Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), in collaboration with RUDN University and the Centre for Continuing Professional Education, has successfully hosted a two-day professional short course on ethical artificial intelligence and entrepreneurial journalism.

The programme, themed “Implementing Ethical Artificial Intelligence in Academic Research and Writing and Entrepreneurial Journalism in Algorithmic Systems,” was held at the Window on America, University Library, and attracted participants from both within and outside the university community.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation, and Linkages), Professor K’tsō Nghargbu, commended the Faculty for deepening international collaboration and advancing academic excellence through strategic global partnerships.

In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Rabiu Mohammed, described the course as a timely and transformative engagement addressing the ethical deployment of AI tools in research and the shifting dynamics of journalism within algorithm-driven ecosystems.

Delivering the keynote presentation, Associate Professor Jamiu Mustapha Muhammad of RUDN University emphasised the importance of responsible AI adoption, research integrity, transparency, and adherence to proper citation standards. He warned against the risks of plagiarism, algorithmic bias, and misinformation, urging participants to embed ethical safeguards in both academic and media practices.

The programme featured interactive technical sessions that enabled participants to interrogate real-world use cases and practical applications. It concluded with networking engagements and group photographs.
