Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) ICT Director Lauds VC, Prof Onuchuku for Placing Varsity on Global Map
The information and communication technology (ICT) director of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Dr. Daniel Ojekudo, has lauded the vice chancellor of the University, Prof. Onuchuku Okechuku, for placing the University on the global map.
The Director of the Information and Communication Technology Centre (ICTC), Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) Dr Nathaniel Ojekudo has lauded the Vice Chancellor of IAUE Professor Okechuku Onuchuku for appreciating the role of the ICTC in providing digital support to help staff and students carry out digital operations that will place them on the global map of the worldwide web, thereby improving the global ranking of the valued institution.

Speaking during a one day technology workshop for Deans, Directors and Head of Departments and Units with the theme "Data Governance: Your role in University Administration and Quality Service Output through Technology Innovations", Dr Ojekudo stated that the University now has an improved internet network distribution system on campus thanks to the benevolent intervention of the Vice Chancellor.
The ICTC, he added is focusing more on standardisation of operations in compliance with the 21st century technology Innovations and evolving solutions, researching and developing solutions on Artificial intelligence, Big Data in Business solutions, Artificial General Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing, Smart Internet solutions, Robotics and E-solutions.
The ICT Director disclosed that the standardized services attracted the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) to use the University ICTC Computer Laboratories for the conduct of their recruitment examinations which was supervised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Wednesday March 6, 2024.
The Centre he informed is collaborating with the University Management and Library Unit for the development of the Institutional Repository (IR) and that at the completion of the digitization, all projects, articles, research publications, books, chapter in books, thesis, dissertations even undergraduate projects will be uploaded and profile on the IR platform to project the culture of academic integrity and quality output.

The workshop for Deans, Directors and Head of Departments and Units, he hinted will provide credible digital services to affirm the place of the University in modern scheme of things in a modern world powered by supersonic frequencies at accelerated speed.
While pledging to frequently continue the training to bring the University Community up to speed in the modern scheme of things, Dr Ojekudo stressed that it will enlighten administrators on the role data play in the business of education and to acquaint them with necessary modern data management tools to compete favourably with other academic peers from other parts of the globe.
Earlier, the representative of the Vice Chancellor and Director Research and Development Professor Kemka Humphrey Ogbonda appreciated the centre for the improved internet network and for providing seemless services to the teeming staff and students.

He also commended the Director for living up to the task adding that the Unit is lucky to have such an enterprising Director.
Also speaking, the immediate past Director of the Centre, Professor Priye Iyalla-Amadi thanked Dr Nathaniel Ojekudo for not disappointing her and for diligently continuing and bringing to completion all the projects that she started emphasizing that it is a welcome development and the sure way to go.
Dr Emmanuel Aburutou of the ICTC made a presentation on Big Data: The new Technology for innovation, productivity and competition, on boarding of the University Data Access Platform while Mrs Benedicta Uchendu of the Library Unit spoke on Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID). Others who made presentations included ICTC staff Mr Tombari Tete who talked on Introduction to Office 365G and Distribution of Custom Licences.

The workshop on the newly developed data access platform in the University Portal provided opportunity for participants to ask questions.
Deputy Director of the Centre Dr Domaka Naniwin in a vote of thanks expressed gratitude to all who found time to grace the occasion.
The event featured tour and commissioning of new projects like the redesigned Jamb centre (Jamb Cubicle standard), the new cyber cafe Hall (CCH) powered by the ICTC .
