Igbinedion University Okada Launches Entrepreneurial Studies for 2024/2025 Session

Igbinedion University Okada (IUO) has officially launched the Entrepreneurial Studies (EPS 311) course for the 2024/2025 academic session. The event, which took place recently, marks a significant step in the university's efforts to integrate entrepreneurship into its academic offerings.

The highlight of the ceremony was a lecture by Engr. Egbuna Iloba, the Director of the South South Zonal Office at the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN). The lecture, titled "Unleashing Your Passion: Turning Ideas Into Business," focused on guiding students to turn their passions into successful business ventures.

The program was organized by the Sir David Osunde Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition at IUO. In his address, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Ralph Adeghe, emphasized the university's commitment to providing all 300-level students with entrepreneurial education. Prof. Adeghe stated that the course is the final phase of entrepreneurial training, following a foundational course in the 200 level.

Dr. Mary Josiah, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition, reiterated the center's mission to foster entrepreneurial skills among students. She expressed optimism about the impact of the program on students' future careers.

A goodwill message was also delivered by Mrs. Anita Eribo, representing the Managing Director of the Edo State Skills Development Agency. Mrs. Eribo commended IUO for its role in promoting entrepreneurship among students.

The ceremony included the inauguration of the IUO Skills Entrepreneurship Club, led by Mr. Moses Egbabor, the Manager of SMEDAN in Edo State. The club aims to provide students with a platform to collaborate, innovate, and develop their entrepreneurial skills.

Students at the event expressed their appreciation for the initiative, noting that the practical aspects of the program would help them become more innovative in the business world. The launch of the course reflects Igbinedion University Okada's continued commitment to preparing students for the challenges and opportunities in the business sector.
