Imo State University has distinguished itself once again, emerging as the triumphant contender in the South East zonal debate competition. Hosted by Yiaga Africa in partnership with the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC), the competition saw IMSU's debaters showcasing their prowess and intellectual acumen.

Mark Amaze, Senior Communications Officer at Yiaga Africa, expressed the organization's commitment to reviving the culture of debates in both universities and secondary schools across Nigeria. He emphasized the pivotal role debates play in providing a platform for young Nigerians to voice their aspirations and ideas for a better Nigeria.

The competition, held under the aegis of the Nigeria Universities Debate Council (NUDC), adhered to the British parliamentary system, with participants taking on roles such as Head of Government, Head of Opposition, Deputy Head of Government, and Deputy Head of Opposition.

Okolie Ugochukwu and Osuji Noel Oziomachukwu of Imo State University emerged victorious, securing their spot in the National finals. Their eloquence and depth of analysis propelled them to success, earning accolades from both judges and spectators alike.
