The Katsina State Government has announced that a total of 29,633 students successfully passed the 2024 National Examination Council (NECO) exams with five credits or more, including in key subjects such as Mathematics and English.

Zainab Musa-Musawa, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, made the announcement during a briefing with journalists in Katsina on Tuesday. She acknowledged that while the overall performance showed room for improvement, it also highlighted significant achievements within the state.

"Katsina State ranked sixth nationally in the number of students who passed the exam with five credits and above, including Mathematics and English," Musa-Musawa stated. "This is a staggering achievement, with 29,633 students meeting this critical benchmark—more than in at least 30 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja."

Musa-Musawa also highlighted the growth in student performance compared to the previous year, noting an increase from 25,152 candidates who achieved the same benchmark in 2023. This represents a remarkable growth of approximately 17.8 percent.
