The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) is currently hosting the Advanced Digital Empowerment Programme for Tertiary Institutions, a capacity-building initiative sponsored by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The training, which is taking place at the university’s Computer Resource Center, is being delivered by facilitators from the Digital Bridge Institute with technical support from FUTA’s in-house experts.
At the opening session, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Professor Timothy Amos, urged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity. She emphasized that learning is a continuous process and warned that missing such a platform could mean losing out on relevant digital competencies. According to her, the one-week programme is designed not only to enhance participants’ proficiency in SPSS, Microsoft applications, and general digital literacy, but also to equip them with the capacity to train others.
The Director of the Computer Resource Center, Mr. Ayodele Kupoluyi, encouraged all trainees to commit fully to the sessions and maximize the value of the programme, which he noted is held annually to strengthen digital awareness among FUTA staff and students. He explained that the training is structured into two tracks—SPSS for Data Analysis and Cybersecurity—with dedicated groups assigned to each stream.
Kupoluyi expressed appreciation to the NCC for sponsoring the initiative and commended the Digital Bridge Institute trainers for their consistent support in advancing digital education. He advised participants to remain fully engaged throughout the programme, noting that every session is essential for enriching their knowledge, sharpening their digital skills, and contributing to FUTA’s broader digital transformation efforts.
