Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Directs Dissolution of Associations’ Executives, Sets February 20 Deadline for New Elections
The Office of the Dean of Students’ Affairs at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene, has announced the dissolution of all elected executive officers of legally operating student associations on campus.

The directive, issued on February 5, 2026, requires all Schools, Departments, and Local Government Chapters to immediately commence preparations for new elections.
Deans of Schools and Heads of Departments are instructed to direct student advisers to establish Electoral Boards to conduct elections on or before February 20, 2026, in accordance with the Students’ Information Handbook and each association’s constitution.

The Polytechnic emphasized that all association elections must precede the Students’ Union Government election. Associations failing to conduct approved elections before this date will be barred from participating in the Students’ Union Government Parliament. Elections conducted without prior approval from the Dean of Students’ Affairs will not be recognized.
All voting is to be conducted through secret ballot, with an election monitoring team set up to ensure free, fair, and credible processes and strict compliance with the directive.
The notice was signed by Dr. Unyime P. Udoudo, Dean of Students’ Affairs, and copied to the Acting Rector, Ag. Registrar, Bursar, Polytechnic Librarian, Deans of Schools and Directors, all HODs/Units, and the CSO/SPI Coordinator.
