LASU ACEITSE Grants N7.5 Million to Support Student Entrepreneurs

The Africa Centre of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM Education (ACEITSE) at Lagos State University (LASU) has awarded N2.5 million each to three students—Okyere Agyemang, Uchenna Uzuegbunam, and Benjamin Onuorah—for their entrepreneurial proposals.

LASU ACEITSE Grants N7.5 Million to Support Student Entrepreneurs

The Africa Centre of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM Education (ACEITSE) at Lagos State University (LASU) has awarded N2.5 million each to three students for their exceptional entrepreneurial ideas. The grants, totaling N7.5 million, were presented to Mr. Okyere Agyemang, Mrs. Uchenna Uzuegbunam, and Mr. Benjamin Onuorah during a ceremony held on July 26, 2024.

The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, praised the recipients and reiterated the university's commitment to supporting entrepreneurial initiatives aligned with the ACE-Impact project. Prof. Rasheed Sanni, Director of ACEITSE-LASU, represented Olatunji-Bello at the event.

The grant program, initiated following a successful project in Côte d'Ivoire, aims to foster entrepreneurial skills among students. A three-man committee, led by Prof. Banji Fajoyomi, evaluated approximately 16 proposals, selecting those with high originality, feasibility, and relevance.

Mr. Onuorah, one of the beneficiaries, highlighted his project's focus on a learning educational app that supports students and teachers. Additionally, staff members were awarded laptops during the event.

The ACEITSE project, supported by the World Bank and Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD), seeks to enhance STEM education through innovative and culturally relevant methods addressing regional development needs.
