LASU DRMI Conducts Sensitization Visits Ahead of 6th Research and Innovation Fair
The Directorate of Research Management and Innovation (DRMI) at Lagos State University (LASU) is conducting sensitization visits to various faculties in preparation for the 6th LASU Research and Innovation Fair, scheduled for October 8-9, 2024.
In preparation for the 6th LASU Research and Innovation Fair, the Directorate of Research Management and Innovation (DRMI) at Lagos State University (LASU) has been conducting sensitization visits to various faculties. On Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, the team visited the Faculty of Law, and on Thursday, July 4th, 2024, they continued their outreach at the Faculty of Arts and the School of Tourism, Films, Performing Arts, and Cultural Studies.

The Director of DRMI and Chairman of the Central Planning Committee (CPC), Prof. Adejuwon Adeneye, led the visits. At each faculty, the team was warmly welcomed by the respective deans—Prof. Kareem Olatoye of the Faculty of Law and Prof. T.M. Salisu of the Faculty of Arts. Both deans introduced the CPC members to their faculty members, expressing their gratitude for the visit and encouraging participation in the upcoming research fair.
Prof. Adeneye emphasized the significance of the Research Fair, not only for LASU but also for Nigeria. He highlighted the necessity for the country to develop export products and assured that this year's fair would be both insightful and distinct from previous editions.

The 6th LASU Research Fair, themed "Emerging Technologies, Research and Innovation: Trends, Threats, and Considerations," is scheduled for October 8th and 9th, 2024, at the Aderemi Makanjuola Theatre Hall, main campus, Ojo, Lagos. Notable speakers include Prof. Oludele Awodele, Prof. Ganiyat Uthman, and Prof. Olukoya Ogen, who will address sub-themes such as Contemporary Ethical Issues in Research and Innovation, Research and Innovation for Economic Transformation, and The Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Research Development and Innovation, respectively.
The event will be chaired by the Pro-Chancellor of LASU, Sir David Sunmoni, with Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa, the Honourable Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, delivering the keynote address. Participation fees vary: LASU staff members pay #20,000, postgraduate students #10,000, undergraduate students #5,000, and external participants #30,000. Online participants are charged #20,000, with an additional late registration fee of #10,000 starting from August 15th, 2024.

The deans assured Prof. Adeneye of their full support, particularly in the registration process and the submission of abstracts. The sensitization drive will continue until July 18th, 2024, with visits to other faculties and schools. On July 9th, 2024, the CPC will visit the University Library, School of Library, Archival and Information Science, Registry, Bursary, and Audit Departments.
