LAUTECH Management Clarifies Alleged Killing Involving Policeman, Confirms Victim Not a Student
The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has clarified that a resident allegedly killed by a policeman was not a student of the university.
The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has debunked claims that a student was killed by a policeman, stating that the deceased was not a student of the university.
In a statement issued on Tuesday night, the university's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Lekan Fadeyi, clarified that the incident did not occur within the university premises but at a club located away from the institution.
Contrary to earlier reports, Fadeyi explained, “The incident occurred around 2 am at a club, and in LAUTECH, we don’t have a club or hotel. The student who tragically lost his life is not affiliated with our university."
He further added, “The altercation took place off-campus, and it has nothing to do with our convocation celebrations. Reports suggest that a fight broke out at a nightclub in the town, resulting in the unfortunate death of one individual."

Fadeyi's clarification comes amidst confusion surrounding the incident, where initial reports claimed a student was killed by a policeman, with two others sustaining injuries.
The university management has emphasized that the incident is unrelated to LAUTECH and its activities, urging the public to disregard any misinformation linking the institution to the tragic event.
The police are currently investigating the incident to ascertain the circumstances that led to the death of the victim.
