Students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) took to the streets to protest the alleged killing of a fellow student during a brawl at a nightclub in Ogbomoso on Monday night.

According to reports, a misunderstanding escalated into a fight between two groups of students who were celebrating the university's convocation at a popular joint in the town. During the altercation, shots fired by the police resulted in the tragic death of the student.

The incident, which occurred around midnight at a hotel in the Under G area of Ogbomoso, has sparked outrage among the student community. In response, students barricaded major roads within the town to demand justice for their fallen colleague.

LAUTECH's spokesperson, Lekan Fadeyi, confirmed  that the unfortunate incident did not take place on the university campus but at a nearby location.

Adewale Osifeso, the Police spokesperson, stated that investigations into the incident have commenced, with details to be provided soon.

The protest reflects the students' concern and calls for improved security measures to ensure the safety of the university community both on and off-campus.
