The Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has underscored the strategic importance of education in driving national development and economic transformation.

Speaking at the 19th Annual Alumni Lecture of the LAUTECH Alumni Association, the VC — represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Strategy and Development), Professor Tunde Ogunkunle — described education as the most potent instrument for competing in an increasingly interconnected global landscape.

He stated that LAUTECH remains fully committed to delivering functional, impact-driven education capable of helping Nigeria break persistent cycles of poverty and inequality. He added that the institution continues to collaborate with relevant stakeholders in finding solutions to the structural challenges threatening the future of education in the country.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, also commended the Alumni Association for its sustained contributions to the university, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, scholarships for indigent students, mentorship initiatives, and advocacy for improved institutional funding.

In his address, the Global President of the Alumni Association, Engr. Olalekan Badmus, said this year’s lecture theme aligns with the urgent realities facing Nigeria’s education sector. He reaffirmed the alumni body’s commitment to championing pragmatic, scalable solutions to strengthen the nation’s educational framework.

Chairman of the lecture planning committee, Professor Remi Aworemi, noted that the recommendations arising from the event will inform policy direction and support practical interventions aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s education system.
