The Muslim Ummah of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), hosted its 15th Annual Ramadan Symposium on Sunday, 22nd February 2026, bringing together scholars, religious leaders, and community stakeholders to explore the moral and ethical imperatives of leadership.

Themed “Leadership as a Sacred Trust (Amanah): Compassion, Accountability, and the Welfare of the People,” the symposium served as both a spiritual and intellectual platform, urging leaders across all levels of society to prioritize integrity, empathy, and public welfare.
The Guest Speaker, Sheikh (Prof.) Khalid Aliyu Abubakar of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Kaduna State University (KASU), framed leadership as a weighty trust rather than a tool for personal gain. He cautioned that leaders—from political office holders to household heads—would be held accountable by the Creator for their actions.
“Leaders are like a spring of water, which shall be pure for the well-being of those under their care,” Sheikh Aliyu stated, highlighting that the purity of a leader’s heart directly influences societal health.
Represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Maikano Mohammed Ari, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, underscored the symposium’s relevance in fostering a compassionate and just society.

Distinguished Senator Abdullahi Adamu, CON, Turakin Keffi, represented by former Vice-Chancellor Professor Muhammad Akaro Mainoma, reinforced the notion that true leadership is fundamentally an “act of worship”—requiring humility, moral integrity, and commitment to justice.
Other speakers stressed the importance of leaders responding to societal needs with empathy and accountability, extending the concept of leadership to include union executives, religious heads, and individuals managing personal or professional responsibilities.
Goodwill messages from Professors Musa Inuwa Fodio and Hauwa’u Mainoma highlighted that social and economic stability are achievable when leaders dispense justice and entrust responsibilities to deserving individuals.
The Chairman of the NSUK Muslim Ummah, Professor Ibrahim Muhammad Haruna, and the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Professor Aliyu Umar, expressed gratitude to the university management and the Da’wah Committee for their support in ensuring the success of the 2026 symposium.

The event concluded with a collective prayer for the nation and a commemorative group photograph, marking a key spiritual and intellectual milestone in NSUK’s calendar.
