The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, HRM Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi (Odundun IV), Asoludero, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land, has reaffirmed his commitment to the completion of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Mosque, urging sustained support from well-meaning individuals and the Muslim faithful.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, HRM Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi (Odundun IV), Asoludero, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land, has reaffirmed his commitment to the completion of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Mosque, urging sustained support from well-meaning individuals and the Muslim faithful.

His remarks were delivered at FUNAAB’s 36th Ramadan Lecture, held on Saturday, 22 February 2026, at the University Mosque.

Speaking at the event, the Pro-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Muslim community for their unwavering dedication to the mosque project. He called on everyone to continue contributing to the project, describing the partially roofed building as “an answered prayer” and assuring that divine success would crown their efforts. “All hands must be on deck to see to the completion of this House of Allah,” Oba Olabomi emphasized.

The lecture, themed “Ramadan: Transforming Lives and Building Unity,” was delivered by Imam Bashir Femi Umar, Chief Imam of the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro (FUTI). He urged Muslims to embrace the spiritual essence of Ramadan through righteousness, charity, moral discipline, and service to humanity.

Imam Umar highlighted that Ramadan transcends fasting, serving as a time for spiritual reflection, personal transformation, and promotion of unity and equity within the Ummah. He also cautioned Islamic leaders against engaging in un-Islamic practices and encouraged generosity and integrity among the faithful. “Ramadan is to ensure the needfuls are done,” he said.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo, commended the FUNAAB Muslim Community for sustaining the annual intellectual and spiritual engagement, urging participants to maximize the opportunity to deepen knowledge and strengthen faith. Alhaji Jumat Alli-Oluwafuyi, Chairman of the occasion, also encouraged Muslims to live transformed lives in line with the lecture’s theme.

In a welcome address, the Amir of the FUNAAB Muslim Community, Prof. Lateef Sanni, represented by the Naibul Amir, Prof. Adesina Agboola, acknowledged the Pro-Chancellor’s presence and financial support for the mosque project. He provided updates on construction progress, detailed funds expended and projected costs, and appealed to the faithful and well-wishers to contribute generously. He also commended the engineers and laborers for their dedication and selfless service.

Notable dignitaries in attendance included Hon. Semiu Lawal (representing Senators Shuaib Afolabi Salisu and Solomon Olamilekan Adeola), Prof. Mufutau Atayese, Vice-Chancellor of FUADSI; Prof. Wasiu Lawal, University Librarian, FUADSI; former FUNAAB officials including Prof. Toyin Arowolo and Dr. Mulikat Salaam; and several other distinguished guests.

Prior to the lecture, the University Imam, Prof. Idris Ayinde, the Amira, Prof. Ganiyat Olatunde, Alhaji Lateef Solarin, the Guest Lecturer, and other clerics paid a courtesy visit to the Pro-Chancellor at his lodge, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of the university’s Muslim community.

The lecture and the Pro-Chancellor’s appeal underscore FUNAAB’s commitment to combining spiritual development with community engagement and institutional growth.
