Make Informed Career Choices, Dr Nzekwe Tells UNIDEL Clinical Sciences Students The Career Development and Counseling Centre UNIDEL, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, held a high-impact career conversation aimed at preparing students of the Faculty Clinical Sciences for the realities and vast opportunities within modern healthcare practice.

The Career Conversation Programme which drew a massive turnout of students from 100 to 300 levels, focused on equipping future clinicians with the knowledge, mindset, and strategic direction needed to thrive in an increasingly complex medical landscape.Delivering a goodwill message, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Stella Chiemeke, charged students to remain disciplined, studious, and passionate about their chosen careers, emphasizing that excellence and commitment remain the cornerstone of success in clinical sciences.

The highlight of the Conversation was a thought-provoking lecture by the Guest Speaker, Dr. Raymond Ndudi Nzekwe, Medical Director/CEO Proof Clinic and Diagnostics, who spoke on the topic, “Navigating Clinical Challenges: Career Pathways in 21st-Century Healthcare.”

He offered a penetrating analysis of the academic and professional hurdles faced by clinical science students, while unveiling the diverse and evolving career opportunities available in the field.He examined career prospects in specialties such as Pathology (including Haematology, Medical Microbiology, Chemical Pathology and Histopathology), Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Internal Medicine (Physicians), and Surgery, urging students to make informed career choices aligned with passion, competence, and global healthcare needs.

Earlier, the Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Professor Alexander Naiho, delivered an insightful address, outlining practical steps students must take to adequately prepare themselves for academic excellence and professional relevance within and beyond the university environment.

The seminar featured a robust and revealing interactive session, during which students asked incisive and thought-provoking questions, reflecting a growing awareness and enthusiasm about career planning in healthcare.

The programme was also attended by key officials of the University’s Career Development Centre, including Dr. Mrs. Olufunke Chenube, Acting Director of the Directorate of Career Development and Counselling; Dr. John Okoh, Dr. Ewoma Oduma, Dr. Faith Imafidon, Dr. Jude Igborgbor, and Mr. Rufus Omafuagbarho, all members of the Centre.Participants described the seminar as timely, inspiring, and career-defining, reaffirming UNIDEL’s commitment to producing well-guided, globally competitive healthcare professionals.
