His leadership combines academic brilliance, visionary administration, and deep-rooted Christian values, shaping BIU into a center of excellence and innovation.
Professor Okhuoya’s connection with the institution dates back to its inception. He was appointed by the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa to chair the planning and implementation committee for the establishment of Christian Faith University—now Benson Idahosa University. Following the university’s successful founding, he became its Vice President and, in October 2024, was appointed the 7th substantive Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the Senate.
Since assuming office, Professor Okhuoya has led the university with a focus on quality education, innovation, and faith-based discipline, fostering a community grounded in Christian principles and academic excellence.
Beyond academia, Professor Okhuoya’s influence extends into ecclesiastical and administrative leadership. A long-standing member of the Church of God Mission International (CGMi) since the 1970s, he has chaired multiple church boards and served three decades with Word of Faith Group of Schools. He was also Resident Pastor of Faith Arena for 16 years, serving under both the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa and the current Archbishop. His commitment to service continues through advisory roles to several ministries, private universities, and colleges of education.
In the academic sphere, Professor Okhuoya has held major positions at the University of Benin, including Dean of the Faculty of Science, Member of the Governing Council, and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration). A proud founding alumnus of the University of Benin, his career reflects decades of dedication to learning, mentorship, and institutional growth.

He is a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM) and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (FNIST). Professor Okhuoya also holds memberships in several professional and academic societies across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
A prolific scholar and author, he has published widely in both academic and Christian literature, contributing significantly to scientific research and spiritual development. His blend of humility, intellect, and steadfast faith continues to define his leadership at Benson Idahosa University and beyond.
