The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) has inducted 43 graduates of the Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science, Achievers University, Owo, into the profession at the University’s 14th Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony held on Wednesday, 15th October 2025.

The event, which marked another milestone in the University’s commitment to producing globally competitive health professionals, featured the administration of the professional oath by the Acting Registrar/CEO of MLSCN, Dr. Donald Ofili, represented by Mrs. Ini Edeh, Director of Examinations of the Council.
Delivering the goodwill message on behalf of the Council, Dr. Ofili congratulated the inductees and commended Achievers University for upholding high academic and training standards consistent with global best practices. He reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to strengthening regulatory oversight, accreditation, and laboratory quality systems in line with evolving ISO standards.
“You are joining a profession that stands at the heart of medical diagnosis and research. Uphold the ethics, sustain professional competence, and let integrity guide your every action,” he charged.
In his keynote remarks, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, urged the new professionals to embody integrity and noble character as they begin their careers. He described the ceremony as a culmination of five years of intellectual transformation anchored on the University’s core values of Knowledge, Integrity, and Leadership.
“This is the function of educational institutions — to rebrand, to reform, and to create intellectuals. Today, you stand as medical laboratory scientists because we have invested in your knowledge, values, and discipline,” he said.
Prof. Ayorinde further emphasized that while certificates and connections may open doors, character remains the sustaining force in every profession. “Your certificate and your connections can get you a job, but they cannot sustain you on the job. What keeps you there and elevates you is your character,” he added.
He also announced that the faculty building will be named in honour of Prof. Tosan Erhabor, immediate past Registrar/CEO of MLSCN, to be commissioned during the University’s 20th anniversary in 2027.
In his address, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oyesoji Aremu, described the induction as a defining moment celebrating resilience, competence, and ethical commitment. He lauded the inductees for their dedication through years of laboratory work and clinical exposure, reminding them that the oath signifies a solemn promise to uphold honesty, diligence, and professionalism.
“Your role in healthcare is crucial, and your integrity will be your greatest testimony,” he said, reaffirming the University’s sustained investment in faculty development, research collaborations, and infrastructure.
The Dean, Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science, Prof. Olabisi Oduwole, highlighted the faculty’s academic excellence, noting the success of the first alumna to complete a Master’s degree with distinction under a work-study PhD fellowship. She added that several alumni are pursuing postgraduate studies within and outside Nigeria.
She also celebrated the faculty’s growing influence in sports, with two female students recently representing Ondo State at interstate competitions, one of whom received a national call-up to the female handball team camp.
“Today marks the fulfilment of years of rigorous study and perseverance. The profession you are entering is central to healthcare delivery. Let integrity, compassion, and lifelong learning guide you,” she charged.

The Chairperson of the Induction Committee, Mrs. J.A. Oke, expressed appreciation to the University Management, MLSCN officials, faculty members, and parents for their support in ensuring the success of the event.
