These include HND Artificial Intelligence, HND Networking and Cloud Computing, HND Software and Web Development, and HND Cybersecurity and Data Protection.
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has announced the unbundling of the Higher National Diploma (HND) Computer Science Programme in polytechnics, monotechnics, and similar technical institutions nationwide. The decision aims to align with emerging trends and strategically position graduates for more effective national development.
The announcement, conveyed through a letter from NBTE's Executive Secretary, Professor Idris M. Bugaje, outlines the creation of new specialized areas. These include HND Artificial Intelligence, HND Networking and Cloud Computing, HND Software and Web Development, and HND Cybersecurity and Data Protection.
In the letter, Professor Bugaje clarified that no admissions would be accepted into the HND Computer Science Programme from the 2024/2025 session. Students already admitted under the former program have until 2025 to complete their studies, allowing institutions to graduate students following the old curricula.
The board emphasized that admissions for the 2024/2025 academic session would only be accepted in the four specialized areas mentioned earlier.
