The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has released implementation guidelines for the commencement of the National Diploma (ND) in Pharmacy Technician programme across approved institutions in Nigeria.

In a circular referencing an earlier communication (Ref: TEB.008/LO/VOL.VI/29) dated August 28, 2025, NBTE recalled that the Honourable Minister had granted approval for the National Diploma in Pharmacy Technician to serve as the terminal programme for the Pharmacy Technician cadre.

The Board disclosed that the curriculum and course specifications for the ND Pharmacy Technician programme have now been fully reviewed, harmonised, and finalised by NBTE in collaboration with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN). Following this process, the curriculum has been approved for implementation with immediate effect from the date of the circular.

NBTE advised that the approved curriculum and course specifications are available for download on its official website at www.nbte.gov.ng/downloads.

According to the guidelines, all NBTE-approved and recognised institutions interested in mounting the programme are required to formally apply through the Board’s digital Quality Assurance portal at www.digitainbe.nbte.gov.ng using the TVET login platform.

The Board emphasised that applications to offer the ND Pharmacy Technician programme will be strictly assessed based on compliance with the minimum requirements as stipulated in the approved curriculum and course specifications.

NBTE reiterated its commitment to maintaining quality assurance, standardisation, and professional relevance in technical and vocational education, urging institutions to adhere strictly to the outlined procedures before commencing the programme.
