NSUK Senate Approves New Academic Programmes and Establishment of Department of Public Health

The Senate of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, at its 136th Regular Meeting held on Thursday 29th January 2026, has approved the introduction of new academic programmes across selected faculties, as part of the University’s deliberate effort to expand academic offerings and strengthen professional training. 

Under the Department of Islam and Development Studies, Faculty of Arts, Senate approved the following postgraduate programmes: 

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) and Professional Master’s Degrees in:

✅️Mosque Management

✅️Islam and Security Studies

✅️Islam and Conflict Resolution

In the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, Senate approved the establishment of the following undergraduate degree programmes: 

✅️Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Islamic Economics and Finance

✅️Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Cooperative Economics and Management

In a related development, Senate also approved the establishment of a Department of Public Health, to be domiciled in the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences. 

Additionally, Senate approved the introduction of the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Public Health, to be housed within the newly established department. 

These approvals reflect the University’s commitment to academic innovation, professional relevance, and responsive education that addresses contemporary societal needs.
