2023 General Election: NYSC DG Yusha'u Ahmed Seeks Strengthened Security For Corps Members
The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Yusha'u Dogara Ahmed has again canvassed for adequate security for all Corps Members that would serve as INEC Adhoc staff during the 2023 Presidential/National Assembly and Governorship/State House of Assembly elections.
He stated this today during separate advocacy visits to the Commander, Operation Safe Haven Jos, Major General AB Ibrahim, the Plateau State Director, Department of State Services, Mr Albert Ogbole and the Commissioner of Police in Charge of elections in Plateau State, Mamman Dauda.
In all the places visited, General Ahmed appreciated them for supporting the Scheme in previous engagements, adding that the NYSC holds the security and welfare of its Corps Members as topmost priority, and as such would not undermine their safety.
He said the Corps Members, having been trained by INEC, have also been sensitized by the NYSC on the need to contribute their quota as credible election umpires in tandem with the provisions of the electoral laws.
In their separate remarks, the Commander, Operation Safe Haven, Jos, Major General AB Ibrahim said officers and men of the Division are ready to provide security for all Corps Members, other electoral officers including election materials.
The Plateau State Director of the Department of State Services, Mr Albert Ogbole said the agency is interfacing with all security agencies to ensure maximum protection for all eligible voters, election officials and INEC materials.
Also, the Commissioner of Police in charge of election duties in Plateau State, Mamman Dauda said; "We are solidly behind the Corps Members that are participating in the elections and we will do everything possible to protect them.
I want to assure you that we will do our best to ensure that the election is successful", he said.
