SLUK Holds 11th Orientation for New Intake; VC Issues Stern Warning Against Academic Malpractice

The Vice-Chancellor of Sule Lamido University Kafin Hausa (SLUK), Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai, has identified examination malpractice, theft, and drug abuse as critical barriers to academic excellence and the realization of the institution's founding vision.

Professor Yakasai delivered this charge on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, during the 11th Orientation Programme for newly admitted undergraduate students of the 2025/2026 Academic Session. The event, organized by the University’s Student Affairs Division, served as a formal induction into the institution’s culture of discipline.

Addressing the fresh students, the Vice-Chancellor urged them to shun negative behaviors and remain vigilant of their environment. He emphasized the importance of self-regulation and the development of essential life skills to ensure optimal growth in both learning and character.

In his welcome remarks, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Abba Auwalu, encouraged the students to approach their studies with diligence, noting that they are the primary authors of this new chapter in their lives.

Institutional Guidelines and Student Conduct

The University Registrar, Malam Adamu Mohammed, presented a lead paper titled "Adhering to General University Laws and Keeping Away from Vices." He provided a comprehensive overview of the rules governing student conduct, specifically highlighting the severe consequences of examination malpractice, drug abuse, and indecent dressing. He reminded the intake that they are now part of a vibrant intellectual community dedicated to critical thinking and leadership.
