Speaking on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the Higher Education Stakeholders Forum held at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, the Governor emphasized that the issue of staff welfare is under active consideration at the State Executive Council.
The summit, themed “Education and Sustainable Development in Nigeria: Why Anambra Must Remain Focused,” brought together education leaders from across the state, including the Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, whose advocacy for improved staff welfare received commendation from the Governor.
“We understand the common language of staff, which is welfare. We shall come to that,” Soludo assured, drawing applause from the audience.

His remarks, widely welcomed by participants, were seen as a positive signal of the government’s readiness to prioritize the needs of academic and non-academic personnel.
Observers at the event praised Prof. Omenugha for her consistent and intentional focus on the well-being of university staff, describing her as a leader who “walks the talk.
