SSANU Demands 25% Salary Increment for Sokoto State University Staff

 The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) of Sokoto State University has called on the state government and university management to implement a 25% salary increment for its members.

In a statement released on Sunday, the union cited the federal government's implementation of a similar increase for university workers as a basis for their demand. SSANU emphasized the need for prompt implementation to alleviate financial burdens and improve the livelihoods of its members.

The union also raised concerns about transparency and accountability in the management and remittance of union dues and the fulfillment of commitments regarding the payment of earned allowances to eligible staff members.

Furthermore, SSANU urged the state government to allocate adequate resources and support for staff training programs to promote excellence in teaching, research, and administrative functions.

Additionally, the union called for the implementation of palliative measures and wage awards to help cushion the impact of the petrol subsidy removal, citing the wage award of N35,000 for six months enjoyed by federal university workers.

The union's demands aim to address the welfare and well-being of Sokoto State University staff, promoting a more conducive work environment and enhancing the overall quality of education.
