UEE Vice-Chancellor Urges Students to Embrace Mindset Re-Engineering and Entrepreneurship

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education and Entrepreneurship (UEE), Akamkpa, Prof. Patrick N. Asuquo, has called on students to prioritize mindset re-engineering, personal development, and entrepreneurial orientation as key drivers for academic and professional success.

Prof. Asuquo made the remarks during the maiden edition of the Students’ Orientation Programme organized by the Akamkpa Business School (ABS) on Thursday, 16th October 2025, at the university campus.

In his keynote address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized UEE’s commitment to producing graduates equipped with both academic knowledge and practical entrepreneurial skills. “Every student of this university will graduate with certificates in two routes — the academic route and the vocational route,” he said. The academic route will include 30% entrepreneurship-focused courses covering areas such as communication skills, digital productivity tools, artificial intelligence, collaboration, financial literacy, business plan development, and grant writing. Practical training and mentorship will be provided through the Akamkpa Business School and the upcoming Entrepreneurship and Incubation Hub.

Prof. Asuquo stressed that upon graduation, every student should possess a product to sell, a service to offer, or both, positioning them as job creators rather than job seekers. “Your success begins with self-belief, intentional action, and resilience. The University will provide the tools, but you must build your future,” he added.

The orientation featured three insightful paper presentations and interactive sessions aimed at helping students align their academic goals with personal and entrepreneurial growth.
