UNIJOS Refutes Fake 2024/2025 Academic Calendar Circulated Online
The University of Jos clarifies that a circulated academic calendar is fraudulent and has extended the 2024/2025 session start due to O'level result delays.
The University of Jos (UNIJOS) has officially addressed the circulation of a fraudulent academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session, which has been spreading across various social media platforms. The fake document, erroneously attributed to Professor J.P. Chollom, the Director of Academic Planning and Management, inaccurately states that the new academic session will begin on September 23, 2024.
In a press release issued by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, the University clarified that the document is not authentic and was not issued by any official University channels. The administration urged all members of the University community and the public to rely only on verified information from official UNIJOS communication channels.
Furthermore, the University Senate has approved a delay in the start of the 2024/2025 academic session. This decision, made during the 1st Regular Meeting of the Senate for the session, responds to delays in the release of the 2024 O'level results, which have impacted the scheduling of the Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) Screening Exercise. The extension aims to ensure that all eligible applicants have an equal opportunity to participate in the screening process.
The University Administration expressed appreciation for the understanding and patience of students and the public during this period and reaffirmed its commitment to a smooth academic calendar and fair admission process.
