The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has successfully conducted the Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Business Incubation Certification (EIBIC) Programme for all 100 and 200-level students of the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has successfully conducted the Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Business Incubation Certification (EIBIC) Programme for all 100 and 200-level students of the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Jelili Omotola Multipurpose Hall, the programme forms part of the university’s strategic efforts to foster an entrepreneurial mindset among students and equip them with practical business and innovation skills to excel as entrepreneurs or valuable professionals.

A key highlight of the EIBIC Programme is that participants will earn an additional certificate in Entrepreneurship upon graduation — a major advantage that enhances their career competitiveness and employability.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research), Professor Bolanle Olufunmilola Oboh, reaffirmed UNILAG’s commitment to producing graduates equipped with both academic excellence and market-relevant skills.

“The EIBIC programme is a strategic initiative aimed at equipping students with entrepreneurial skills in addition to their academic training, thereby enabling them to graduate with both a degree and a certificate in Entrepreneurship,” Prof. Oboh said.

She further noted that the university runs several innovation and incubation centres where students are mentored and supported in developing profitable business ventures.

In her remarks, the Director of the Distance Learning Institute, Professor Risikat Oladoyin Dauda, encouraged students to take full advantage of the programme, emphasizing that exposure to divers e business ideas would help them become innovative thinkers and valuable contributors to national development.“Be inquisitive and focused. Equip yourselves to become valuable assets to the nation,” she advised.

The event also featured industry experts and facilitators who engaged students in sessions on creative problem-solving, business planning, digital entrepreneurship, and innovation management, stressing that practical action and innovation are central to building successful ventures in today’s economy.
