University of Maiduguri Student Union President Responds to Security Concerns

The Student Union Government (SUG) President, Hafiz Mohammed Bello, has addressed concerns raised by Bukar Musapha Bukar, a medical student, regarding enhanced security measures for students during the semester break.

In a letter dated July 4, 2024, President Bello assured that the union is taking provisional measures to bolster security and ensure a safe environment for students on campus. He emphasized that the union will not tolerate any form of sexual harassment, theft, or other criminal activities, and urged students to report any suspicious acts to the authorities.

To ensure student safety, the union will:

- Designate safe zones for studying

- Ensure hostels, commercial areas, and other important locations remain secure

- Encourage students to avoid isolated areas, especially at night
