Abia State Nursing Exams Suspended Indefinitely Amid Controversy
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has indefinitely suspended the Preliminary Test Session examinations in Abia State nursing schools due to over-admissions and allegations of examination compromise.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has indefinitely suspended the Preliminary Test Session (PTS) examinations in Abia State nursing schools following a controversy. The decision was announced by the Abia State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, alongside the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu.
Dr. Okoronkwo explained that the suspension was due to over-bloated admissions to the Amachara School of Nursing and School of Nursing, Umuahia. She revealed that the last administration in the state admitted 420 students to study nursing, far exceeding the approved 75 spots. However, she assured that the Abia State government is taking steps to resolve the issue.
