ABSU Vice-Chancellor Welcomes MLSCN Accreditation Team, Commends Governor Otti’s Visionary Funding

The Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University (ABSU), Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, has received an accreditation team from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) on a formal visit to the University.

Speaking during the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the Management of the University, expressed profound gratitude to the team for the visit. He described accreditation not as a fault-finding mission or a fight, but as a vital academic exercise aimed at ensuring and strengthening the quality of programmes offered in Nigerian universities.

Professor Okeudo used the opportunity to commend the Governor of Abia State and Visitor to the University, Dr. Alex Otti OFR, for his unwavering support to the institution. He particularly applauded the Governor’s allocation of 20 percent of the state budget to education and his remarkable strides in infrastructural and academic development across the University. The Vice-Chancellor prayed for God’s continued guidance upon the Governor as he works towards achieving his transformative vision for the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the accreditation team of the University’s full cooperation and adequate provision of all necessary facilities and documents required to ensure a smooth and hitch-free exercise. He wished the team a successful and productive accreditation process.

Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the accreditation team, Professor M.A. Emokpae, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for the warm reception accorded them. He emphasized that accreditation is a routine and essential exercise in academic institutions, designed to ensure compliance with basic minimum academic standards as stipulated by regulatory authorities.

Professor Emokpae assured the Vice-Chancellor that the team would carry out its assignment diligently and professionally. He added that the team would return for an exit briefing upon the completion of the exercise.

The meeting was attended by the full complement of the University Management, the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Felix Ike, Deans of Faculties, Senior Lecturers, Heads of Departments, and other members of staff of the University.
