AKSU Secures NUC Approval to Admit Students into New Health Sciences Programmes for 2025/2026 Session
Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU), Ikot Akpaden, has received official approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence full-time undergraduate programmes in its newly established Faculty of Health Sciences beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session.

The approval was conveyed in a letter issued by the NUC and dated 23 December 2025, authorising the university to admit students into seven Bachelor’s degree programmes.
Approved Health Sciences Programmes
The newly approved programmes are:
- Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.)
- Public Health (B.Sc.)
- Community Health Science (B.CHS.)
- Health Information Management (B.HIM)
- Science Laboratory Technology (B.Sc.)
- Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS)
- Environmental Health Science (B.EHS)
Admission Requirements
- Candidates must have selected Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) as their First Choice Institution in the 2025 UTME.
- Minimum UTME score of 290 is required for Nursing Science.
- Minimum UTME score of 265 applies to all other listed programmes.
Candidates who did not initially choose AKSU as their first choice but are interested in any of the approved programmes are advised to effect a Change of Institution to AKSU through the JAMB portal without delay.

Application Timeline
The AKSU online portal for registration and admission processing will open on Monday, 5 January 2026. Only candidates who successfully complete the registration process will be considered for admission.
The development presents a significant opportunity for 2025 UTME candidates, particularly science students who scored 265 and above (or 290 and above for Nursing Science) and are yet to secure admission.
