The Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education has announced its decision to sever ties with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, for the award of Bachelor's Degrees starting from the next academic year. This development comes as the institution transitions from being a College of Education to a full-fledged University, following its elevation by the Federal Government.

During the 2023/2024 Matriculation Ceremony, which saw 1,300 freshers enrolled for various programs, Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Stella Ngozi Lemchi, issued a stern warning against cultism and other vices within the school. She emphasized that such behavior would result in instant expulsion and involvement of security agencies.

Professor Lemchi highlighted the institution's 40-year history of providing quality education and producing competent graduates across various fields. She stressed the importance of adhering to rules and regulations to achieve academic goals, urging matriculating students to embrace the institution's legacy of excellence.
