ATBU Makes NDLEA Drug Integrity Test Mandatory for All Students

Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has announced the compulsory implementation of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Drug Integrity Test for all students, in compliance with a Federal Government directive aimed at curbing drug abuse in tertiary institutions.

Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has announced the compulsory implementation of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Drug Integrity Test for all students, in compliance with a Federal Government directive aimed at curbing drug abuse in tertiary institutions.

The directive, contained in an official notice dated 12 December 2025, applies to both newly admitted and returning students of the university. The memo was signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Haj. Hadeeza Ibrahim Mailafia.

According to the notice, affected students are required to register for the test through the NDLEA’s official portal at drugandvisa.ndlea.gov.ng. The online platform enables students to complete their registration, select a preferred test centre from approved laboratories nationwide, schedule their test appointments, and receive their results and certificates electronically.

ATBU has made the submission of the drug test certificate a mandatory prerequisite for academic registration. Students are required to upload a soft copy of their NDLEA Drug Integrity Test certificate on the university portal, and registration will not be validated until the document is successfully submitted.

The university emphasized that compliance with the directive is non-negotiable, as the policy forms part of a broader national strategy to promote a drug-free academic environment and reinforce discipline and wellbeing among students.

Students have been advised to complete the process promptly to avoid delays or disruptions to their registration and participation in academic activities for the session.
