The Registrar of the University of Delta, Agbor, Barrister Richmond Omagbemi, has urged non-teaching staff of the institution to focus on career development and professionalism, warning against the circulation of unverified information and the submission of baseless petitions capable of creating unnecessary tension within the university.
Barrister Omagbemi issued the charge during the January monthly training programme for Administrative, Executive and Secretarial staff of the university.
He expressed concern over the actions of some staff members who, under the guise of “Concerned Staff,” engage in the dissemination of unfounded information. Emphasising the importance of dedication to duty, he called on staff to take their responsibilities seriously and prioritise personal growth and career advancement.

The Registrar warned that management would not hesitate to sanction any staff found engaging in such practices. He advised staff to ensure accountability in their communications and to channel grievances through appropriate and established institutional channels rather than issuing statements capable of undermining harmony within the university. He also encouraged them to familiarise themselves with the university’s regulations.

The training featured a lecture by the guest speaker, Mr Meshack Iwekaogwu, titled “Communication: Mastering the Skills of Clear and Concise Communication to Reduce Misunderstanding and Errors.” In his presentation, Iwekaogwu examined the principles of effective communication, types of workplace communication, common barriers to clarity, and other key elements essential for effective administrative operations.
The monthly training programme for non-teaching staff is designed to strengthen administrative competence, refresh professional knowledge, and update staff on modern approaches to handling official responsibilities.
