BUK Faculty of Education Organizes Skills Acquisition Training for Students

The Department of Adult Education and Community Services at Bayero University Kano (BUK) in collaboration with Shama Foundation organized a six-week training program for 100 female students.

Dr. Auwalu Halilu, Acting Head of Department and Coordinator of Skills Acquisition, explained that the program was approved by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, as part of the university's initiative to equip all students with entrepreneurship skills.

Dr. Halilu encouraged the students to take advantage of the opportunity and commended Shama Foundation for sponsoring the training. Dr. Usman, a senior lecturer in the department, emphasized that graduating with both skills and a certificate is a privilege, and students should strive to be self-employed given the country's economic challenges. He quoted Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, saying "skills rather than just the degree."

The vocational center of the department is open to the university community for patronage. The training aims to build and improve students' skills for efficiency and productivity.
