BUK Students Win 2024 NSPP National Essay Writing Competition
Two undergraduate students from the Faculty of Agriculture, Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Rahmat Atu and Nana Hauwa Aliyu, have emerged winners of the 2024 National Essay Writing Competition organized by the Nigerian Society for Plant Protection (NSPP).

The competition, which took place from May 5 to 9, 2024, at the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, saw participation from students across Nigerian tertiary institutions. The topic was "The Role of Plant Health in Fostering Prosperous Livelihoods and Economic Success in the 21st Century".

Rahmat Atu Musa and Nana Hauwa Aliyu, 400-level students in the Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management, secured first and second positions, respectively. They received cash prizes of N15,000 and N10,000, along with automatic membership to NSPP.
During the award presentation, Professor A. U. Yusuf, President of NSPP, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, and other principal officers of BUK for their support.
