Covenant University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, praised the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) team for their contributions during a special meeting. He highlighted the importance of impactful living and encouraged the team to continue striving for excellence.

In a special meeting held recently, Covenant University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) team for their invaluable contributions to the institution's progress. The event brought together the Analytical Team and SDG champions for Goals 1-17, providing a platform for Professor Adebayo to commend their efforts and encourage continued excellence.

During his remarks, Professor Adebayo thanked the SDGs team for honoring his invitation and acknowledged their significant role in the ongoing examination process. He also expressed gratitude to the professors who participated in invigilating the exams. Each SDG champion received commendation letters and awards as tokens of appreciation.

Highlighting the importance of impactful living, Professor Adebayo urged team members to consider the legacy they wish to leave behind. He emphasized the need for everyone to “think impact, act impact, and pursue impact” in all their endeavors, extending beyond personal and professional tasks to every assignment undertaken.

He reminded the team that the awards and commendation letters they received serve as motivation to continue striving for excellence. "Life is all about pushing harder and pursuing far," he noted. Appreciating their contributions to the University's progress, he stated, "Each time tributes are read at a funeral, it is not the dead person’s properties, money, investment, or luxuries that are mentioned but the role and impact they made while alive.”

In his appreciation speech, team leader Professor Emmanuel Amoo thanked the University Management for their support and promised to work harder for greater success. SDG1 Champion, Professor Felicia O. Olokoyo, also expressed gratitude and pledged to achieve higher levels of success.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olujide Adekeye, echoed the Vice-Chancellor's sentiments on the importance of impact. He commended the team's tremendous improvements, recognized their efforts, and encouraged them to continue enhancing their work, focusing on areas needing improvement to maintain and upgrade the Institution's status.

In his closing remarks, Professor Adebayo urged the team to be proactive, suggesting the creation of a dedicated website for SDG updates, separate from the school's website. He welcomed policy recommendations aligning with the school's values and expressed hope for sharing more good news in future meetings. He concluded by advising the team to continue improving their efforts to achieve greater success and win more accolades.
