The Delta State Government has called on staff across all tertiary institutions to enhance efforts toward quality service delivery, emphasizing the sustainability of the “More Agenda” of the Governor.

The directive was given by Rt. Hon. Solomon Funkekeme, Senior Policy Adviser to the Executive Governor on Policy, Servicom, and Labour Relations, during a one-day Servicom Sensitization Programme held at the University of Delta, Agbor.
Hon. Funkekeme explained that the Servicom initiative aims to ensure that Delta State citizens, particularly workers, receive prompt, efficient, and transparent services. He outlined the principles guiding the initiative, including a firm commitment to public service, belief in the potential of Delta State and Nigeria to thrive through effective service, and dedication to delivering citizens’ entitlements with professionalism.
He also highlighted factors that undermine service delivery, such as poor communication, technical glitches, errors, insufficient training, inadequate service design, and negative staff attitudes. According to him, good service is defined by professionalism, timeliness, proper attitude, and consistency.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stella Chiemeke thanked Hon. Funkekeme for bringing the programme to UNIDELTA and reaffirmed the University Management’s commitment to implementing Servicom principles. Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, Prof. Patrick Ijeh, praised the Vice-Chancellor for championing service delivery and appealed to the State Government to provide additional furniture for the newly built Faculties of Social Science and Management Science.
The programme was also attended by Assistant Director of Administration, Servicom and Labour Relations, Barrister Leonard Azomani, Mrs. Onwusanya Uche, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Patricia Mbah, Registrar Barrister Richmond Omagbemi, Bursar Dr. Sunny Ikeogwu, as well as Deans, Heads of Departments, and union leaders.

In closing, the Registrar acknowledged the commitment of staff and students, emphasizing that their compliance is vital for achieving effective service delivery across the University.
