Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) successfully hosted the RUDN University Professional Scholarship Courses on February 16–17, 2026, advancing its strategic push toward global academic collaboration and future-ready professional development.

The intensive programme was delivered in partnership with the Center for Continuing Professional Education, Faculty of Philology, RUDN University, and featured distinguished facilitators including Dr. Muhammed Jamiu Mustapha (RUDN University) and Dr. Rasaq M. Adisa of the University of Ilorin.

The scholarship courses were structured around two high-impact themes:

  • Implementing Ethical AI in Academic Research and Writing
  • Digital Pedagogy for Higher Education Teachers

Day One Focus: Ethical AI in Academic Research

The opening session, led by Dr. Mustapha, convened staff and students for a rigorous exploration of responsible AI integration in academia. He dissected foundational pillars including:

  • Ethical AI frameworks in higher education
  • AI and research integrity
  • Transparency, disclosure, and citation protocols
  • Responsible AI adoption models

He underscored non-negotiable principles—academic integrity, transparency, human oversight, and systematic verification of AI-generated outputs. Participants critically examined permissible versus non-permissible AI usage, alongside the ethical triad of plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification.

In the second session, Dr. Rasaq Adisa transitioned from theory to application, demonstrating practical AI-supported strategies for literature review and data analysis. Leveraging Boolean logic and advanced Google Scholar techniques (exCITATION), he illustrated how AI can function as a precision-enhancing tool rather than a shortcut mechanism.

The overarching message was unequivocal: treat AI as a co-pilot, not an autopilot. Maintain intellectual authority, apply rigorous verification standards, and ensure full transparency in deployment.

By hosting the programme, TAU reinforced its positioning as a forward-looking institution committed to digital competence, ethical scholarship, and globally aligned academic standards.
