The Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EHOAN) has promised to give 100 percent support for the success of the proposed B.Sc. Environmental Health Sciences Programme of the University.

This was disclosed by the president of the association, Sanitarian Abdullahi Abdulhamid when they paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed, he said they are at the VC's office to appreciate his effort in mounting the BSc. Environmental Health Sciences Programme for the people of the state, adding that as soon as the programme starts, it will solve the problem of indigenes travelling as far as Kwara to get the degree.

He said Environmental Health Science, Public Health and Epidemiology and Disease Control are professional programmes that only not trained the students, but also empowers them to be independent without necessarily looking for jobs.

He told the VC that the University can access the N50 million grant from the Environmental Health Council in order to help the University build a standard laboratory, adding that the Environmental Health Science laboratory will generate revenue for the University because a lot of researchers and agencies will patronize it.

The president also advised the University to mount a programme on Epidemiology and Disease Control because very few universities offer the course in Nigeria.

In his response, the VC who appreciated the body for the visit said the University will do everything possible to make sure that the programme is one of the best in the country, adding that he appreciates all the suggestions given to him by the association.

He called on them to write a comprehensive memo on their input to the programme and present it to the University.
