The School of Engineering Technology at the Federal Polytechnic Ayede has held a seminar aimed at equipping staff with essential skills in academic research paper writing.

The programme, which took place at the institution’s TETFund 250-Seater Auditorium, drew academic and non-academic staff from across the Polytechnic. Representing the Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, the Deputy Rector (Academic), Mr. Azeez Olasunkanmi Ojo, reaffirmed the management’s commitment to staff capacity building. He described such initiatives as crucial to the Polytechnic’s academic growth and urged staff to make the most of the opportunity to enhance their research and writing abilities.

Facilitator of the seminar and Acting Dean of the School of Engineering Technology, Engr. Jacob Oluwafemi Ayangbekun, delivered a detailed lecture on the structure and standards of academic papers. He stressed the need for originality, proper referencing, and thorough preparation, warning against plagiarism and overdependence on artificial intelligence tools. He encouraged participants to prioritise critical thinking and deep understanding of their subjects.

The event was attended by key officials, including the Director of Academic Planning, Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) T.M. Adepoju; the Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Samuel Oke Ogunniyi, represented by Mr. Dare Adeleke; and Mr. Samuel Adewole, alongside other staff members.
