In a landmark development, the Federal University of Health and Allied Sciences in Enugu has transitioned from its previous status as a College of Dental Technology and Therapy to a full-fledged university. At the heart of this transformation lies the visionary leadership of President Bola Tinubu, whose decision to elevate the institution has been met with resounding appreciation. Recognizing the significance of quality healthcare delivery, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, also received accolades for his instrumental role in facilitating the upgrade.
Addressing the jubilant gathering, Prof. John Emaimo, the rector of the newly minted university, emphasized the institution's preparedness for this monumental shift. "We already knew that this kind of good news would come one day because we have had this proposal on the table of the previous president but it was not signed. That’s why we insisted that every staff must get prepared to fit into the new status," Prof. Emaimo remarked.

He further asserted, "There’s a dire need for what we’re doing here as an institution. We’re not new and we’re already a degree-awarding institution. We have the structure and manpower to carry on a quick transition."
